Kay received U.S. Patent No. 4,452,364 on a Safety Closure Device for Medicine Container:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"853\" src=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-3.png 540w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-3-190x300.png 190w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps inspired by the infamous Chicago Tylenol murders just months before he filed his application on February 7, 1983, Kay provided a medicine container that could not be opened without revealing that the container had been tampered with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1976 more than 8000 U.S. patents have issued on tamper indicating packaging.
