Thistle received U.S. Patent No. 112 on a Riding Saddle useful for removing the sick and wounded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-26.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"598\" height=\"787\" src=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-26.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4555\" srcset=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-26.png 598w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-26-228x300.png 228w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 598px) 100vw, 598px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thistle claimed the title Captain, and led a volunteer force in Florida during the Second Seminole War.
