Michael Jackson is remembered for many things, but he is probably not remembered by most people as an inventor &#8212; but he was. Michael Jackson received U.S. Patent No. 5,255,452 on a Method and Means for Creating Anti-Gravity Illusion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"618\" height=\"832\" src=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-21.png 618w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-21-223x300.png 223w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This would appear to be what might have been used in Jackson&#8217;s 1988 Smooth Criminal video (see below), but the October 13, 1988, release date of the video and the June 29, 1992, filing date of the application don&#8217;t seem to match up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"656\" src=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22-1024x656.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3817\" srcset=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22-1024x656.png 1024w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22-300x192.png 300w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22-768x492.png 768w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22-469x300.png 469w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-22.png 1401w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Maybe Jackson was protecting a later-developed improvement to the illusion in the video.
