These days it would seem more like a gift from Ikea than France, the statue was in 350 pieces in more than 200 boxes.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Statute of Liberty was patented by the sculptor, Auguste Bartholdi, six years earlier in 1879:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"695\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11-695x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3792\" style=\"width:614px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11-695x1024.png 695w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11-204x300.png 204w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11-768x1131.png 768w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11-1043x1536.png 1043w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-11-1390x2048.png 1390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A peculiar IP side story is that in 2018 the U.S. Postal Services was ordered to pay artist Robert Davidson $3,554,946.95 for accidentally basing its 2011 Forever Stamp honoring the Statute of Liberty, not on the real Statue of Liberty, but on a stylized recreation Davidson produced for the New York-New York Hotel &amp; Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"711\" height=\"289\" src=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-12.png 711w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-12-300x122.png 300w, https:\/\/patents.harnessip.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-12-500x203.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 711px) 100vw, 711px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The original, the stamp, and the Las Vegas versions.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The postal service sold more than 4,948,761,166 stamps with the unintentionally infringing image.
